Cornus kousa var. chinensis 'China Girl' (Chinese dogwood 'China Girl') is a member of the Cornaceae family. This deciduous shrub exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – cold winter (-15 to -10ºc) and is hardy through most of the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open or exposed sites or central / northerly locations. Many evergreens suffer foliage damage and plants in pots will be at increased risk.
When fully mature, Cornus kousa var. chinensis 'China Girl' can reach an ultimate height of 4–8 metres and a spread of 4–8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing or east–facing or west–facing aspect and sheltered positions. It thrives best in loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun or partial shade.
