Brahea armata (blue fan palm) is a member of the Arecaceae family. This evergreen shrub exhibits a columnar upright growth habit and is characterized by its evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of heated glasshouse – warm temperate (5 to 10ºc) and is can be grown outdoors in summer throughout most of the UK while daytime temperatures are high enough to promote growth.
When fully mature, Brahea armata can reach an ultimate height of Higher than 12 metres and a spread of 4–8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing or west–facing aspect and sheltered positions. It thrives best in chalk or loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun.
