Penstemon digitalis 'Husker Red' (penstemon 'Husker Red') is a member of the Plantaginaceae family. This perennial exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its semi evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – cold winter (-15 to -10ºc) – hardy through most of the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open or exposed sites or central / northerly locations. Many evergreens suffer foliage damage and plants in pots will be at increased risk.
When fully mature, Penstemon digitalis 'Husker Red' can reach an ultimate height of 0.5–1 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers west–facing or east–facing or south–facing aspect and exposed or sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk or loam or sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun position.
