Asarum europaeum (asarabacca) is a member of the Aristolochiaceae family. This perennial exhibits a matforming growth habit and is characterized by its evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc), and is hardy throughout the uk and northern europe. many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection. .

When fully mature, Asarum europaeum can reach an ultimate height of 0.0–0.1 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers north–facing, west–facing, east–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in clay, loam, sand soil types and should be placed in a full shade, partial shade position.
