Product description & Growing guide

Trachycarpus fortunei (Chusan palm) is a member of the Arecaceae family. This evergreen shrub exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – cold winter (-15 to -10ºc) and is hardy through most of the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open or exposed sites or central / northerly locations. Many evergreens suffer foliage damage and plants in pots will be at increased risk.

When fully mature, Trachycarpus fortunei can reach an ultimate height of Higher than 12 metres and a spread of 1.5–2.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers west–facing or south–facing or east–facing aspect and sheltered positions. It thrives best in chalk or loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun or partial shade.
