Rhus typhina (stag's horn sumach) is a member of the Anacardiaceae family. This deciduous shrub exhibits a suckering growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. When fully mature, Rhus typhina can reach an ultimate height of 4–8 metres and a spread of 4–8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing, west–facing, east–facing aspect and exposed, sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk, clay, loam, sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun position.
