Product description & Growing guide

Athyrium filix-femina (lady fern) is a member of the Woodsiaceae family. This fern exhibits a clump forming growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc) and is hardy throughout the UK and northern Europe. Many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection.

When fully mature, Athyrium filix-femina can reach an ultimate height of 0.5–1 metres and a spread of 0.5–1 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers north–facing or east–facing aspect and sheltered positions. It thrives best in clay or loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full shade or partial shade.
