Paeonia lactiflora 'Kansas' (peony 'Kansas') is a member of the Paeoniaceae family. This perennial exhibits a clump forming growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc) and is hardy throughout the UK and northern Europe. Many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection.
When fully mature, Paeonia lactiflora 'Kansas' can reach an ultimate height of 0.5–1 metres and a spread of 0.5–1 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers east–facing or south–facing or west–facing aspect and sheltered positions. It thrives best in clay or loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun or partial shade.
