Cotoneaster franchetii (Franchet's cotoneaster) is a member of the Rosaceae family. This evergreen shrub is characterized by its evergreen or semi evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc) and is hardy throughout the UK and northern Europe. Many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection.

When fully mature, Cotoneaster franchetii can reach an ultimate height of 2.5–4 metres and a spread of 2.5–4 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing or east–facing or north–facing or west–facing aspect and exposed or sheltered positions. It thrives best in chalk or clay or loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun or partial shade.
