Wisteria floribunda (Japanese wisteria) is a member of the Fabaceae family. This climber exhibits a climbing growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc), and is hardy throughout the uk and northern europe. many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection. and features a flower fragrance.

When fully mature, Wisteria floribunda can reach an ultimate height of 4–8 metres and a spread of 1–1.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers west–facing, south–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk, clay, loam, sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun, partial shade position.
