Rodgersia aesculifolia (chestnut-leaved rodgersia) is a member of the Saxifragaceae family. This perennial exhibits a bushy, clump forming growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc), and is hardy throughout the uk and northern europe. many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection. .

When fully mature, Rodgersia aesculifolia can reach an ultimate height of 1.5–2.5 metres and a spread of 1–1.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing, west–facing, east–facing, north–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in clay, loam soil types and should be placed in a full sun, partial shade position.
