Origanum vulgare 'Aureum' (golden oregano) is a member of the Lamiaceae family. This culinary herb exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc), and is hardy throughout the uk and northern europe. many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection. .

When fully mature, Origanum vulgare 'Aureum' can reach an ultimate height of 0.1–0.5 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers north–facing, east–facing, south–facing, west–facing aspect and exposed, sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk, loam soil types and should be placed in a full sun, partial shade position.
